Ffarwel i chwi gynt a gerais

(Ffarweliad)
Ffarwel i chwi gynt a gerais,
Nid yw'ch cwmni, nid yw'ch gwedd,
Nid yw'r cariad sy'n eich calon
Ragor na d'od at y bedd:
Pan ddêl angeu chwi ffowch ymaith,
  Da i mi fod genyf Dduw;
Ffrynd fo gydaf wedi marw,
  Hwnw ganaf tra f'wy'i byw.

Mae nghyfeillion wedi myned
Draw yn lluoedd o fy mlaen,
Rhai fu'n myn'd trwy ddyffryn Bacca
  Gyda mi i Salem lân:
Yn y dyffryn tywyll garw,
Ffydd i'r làn â'u daliodd hwy?
Mae'r addewid lawn i minnau,
  Pa'm yr ofna'm henaid mwy?
William Williams 1717-91

Diniweidrwydd (alaw Gymreig)

gwelir:
  Cofia f'enaid cyn it' dreulio
  Dyma'r byd y mae taranau
  Mae nghyfeillion wedi myned
O am nerth i dreulio 'nyddiau
O fy enaid gwan nac ofna
  O Iachawdwr pechaduriaid
Pa fodd yr âf i trwy'r Iorddonen?
'Rwyf yn gwel'd yr afon ddofn

(A Farewell)
Farewell to you I once loved,
Your company is not, nor is your sight,
Nor is the love which is in your heart
Good enough, to reach the grave:
When death comes ye flee away,
It is good for me to be with God,
A friend who will be with me after death,
He will I love while ever I live.

Companions have gone
  Yonder in hosts before me,
Some were going through the vale of Baca
  With me to holy Salem:
In the rough, dark vale,
Was it faith that upheld them?
The full promise is for me,
Why shall me soul fear any more?
